Warszawa - Toruń by train (recommended)

There are several direct connections by trains from Warsaw's Central Station (Warszawa Centralna) to the Main Station in Toruń (Toruń Główny):

There are more connections from Warsaw (Warszawa) to Toruń (and from Toruń to Warszawa) than indicated above but they require changes and so we do not recommend them. For more details about the railway timetable go to Polish State Railways Time-table to get the full information on trains.

Types of trains in Poland:
  1. POCIĄG OSOBOWY - a local train that stops in every town. It is the slowest and least comfortable train but the cheapest.

  2. POCIĄG POSPIESZNY - a fast train.

  3. POCIĄG EKSPRESOWY (Ex) - an express train that stops only at major cities. It is more expensive and requires booking beforehand.

  4. POCIĄG INTER-CITY (IC) / EURO-CITY (EC) - the fastest and highest quality train that needs a fix reservation (MIEJSCÓWKA) in advance but is the most expensive one.

Warszawa - Toruń by bus

It is possible to get to Toruń from Warsaw by "Polski Express"- a coach. The buses of "Polski Express" starts from the bus stop at John Paul II Alley (in Polish: Al. Jana Pawła II) near the railway central station. Note that "Polski Express" buses are slower than trains and therefore we recommend travelling by train.

There are several buses from Warsaw's Central Station to the Bus Station in Toruń:

In Toruń

To get to the town center from the Main Station in Toruń you can take either a taxi or a MZK bus (MZK is a Torunian municipal bus service). A taxi rank is next to the main station, to the left from an underpass leading from the station. A course from the station to the Torunian Old Town costs about 15 PLN.

A bus stop is exactly in front of the underpass. There are two lines (numbers 22 and 27) that run between the station and the Old Town. You get off two bus stops from the station on the first bus stop just behind the bridge over the Vistula river. One ticket costs 2,10 PLN plus 2,10 PLN for your luggage. The beautiful Torunian Old Town will be exactly in front of you when you get off.

Both lines operate from about 5 a.m. till 10 p.m. seven days a week and the buses run every 10 (Monday to Friday) or 15 (weekdays and holidays) minutes.
